New York Knights of Columbus

May 15, 2009

Dear Brother Knight:

The future of marriage in New York will soon be decided, and you're in a position to help make a difference.

Last Tuesday, the New York State Assembly passed a same-sex marriage bill and sent it on to the Senate.  The Senate Majority leader says he will bring the bill to the floor when he knows he has the votes to pass it.  You can help ensure that the votes aren't there.

Please call or e-mail your state senator and urge him or her to vote NO on same-sex marriage.  A list of the members of the New York Senate and their contact information is included with this e-mail. If you don't know who your senator is, you can go to this
web page and find out by entering your address and zip code.

At our Supreme Convention last August, delegates adopted a resolution promising "That we will never waver in our efforts to promote the Church's understanding of marriage as the faithful, exclusive and lifelong union of one man and one woman joined in an intimate partnership of life and love."  You can find the full text of the resolution
here:

Please help the Knights of Columbus deliver on that promise.

New York's Senate will listen if we speak loudly and clearly.  But time is short, and I ask that you contact your senator as soon as possible.

Fraternally,

Edward Castellazzi
State Deputy

Wappingers Knights of Columbus was chartered in 1912.  Its a council full of history.  Many great men have come through our doors and helped out our Church, (St. Mary's of Wappingers Falls), our village and our community, and many worthwhile charities over the years.

The Wappingers Ladies Auxiliary, gives the ladies of our council a spotlight to glow in!  They have always been supportive and assisted in the programs council 1646 has been involved with.  But now they have a means to socialize, organize, and help needs that are important to the auxiliary.

Please look around our web site, look at our monthly newsletter.  You'll see that the strong history gives our new members a sense of duty.  We have many activities going on at all times.  Most are open to the public.  There is something for everyone.  We are always looking for new members to join our ranks as well.  You'll find information within this site to enable you to join.

Look at what we accomplished in 2008!
