Brothers,

As you know Brother Dick Devine passed away this past Tuesday.  Dick was a member of the Wappingers Knights just short of 42 years.  And just received Honorary Life Membership.  But all the numbers aside, Dick was an exceptional person.  We at the Knights have missed him personally and his contributions for the past couple of years while he stepped back from the council activities to care for his wife Kitchie.  Dick had done a lot of volunteering thru the Columbus Club by waiting on tables and tending bar.  He also became an officer of the council, and was a key officer to me and other Grand Knights, and was always a Brother you could count on to have fresh ideas, work as part of a team, and do a good job.
Dick was also an active Sir Knight in the Wappingers Assembly.  He was proud to serve in the Color Corps and as a officer in the Assembly.
Personally, I was fortunate to visit with Dick a few weeks ago at his daughter's house up in the Woodstock NY area.  We babbled for a couple of hours about everything from Giants and Jets football to families and the council.  He asked about many of you and sounded like the same ol' Dick.  Of course the deadly cancer transformed his earthly body into a slim resemblance of himself, but he had a very good grip on reality, and seemed at peace with his mortality and the chance to be with God and Jesus soon.  I feel really privileged to have had him as a friend, Brother, and to be able to share a bit of myself with him in his last days of his bountiful life.
Please see the info below in regards to services for our Brother and please attend if at all possible.  For Dick and his family, pour prayers and thoughts are with them.

Fraternally,  John Chetner PGK
