                                                           History of the Emblem

The Wappingers Assembly of the Knights of Columbus has just concluded it’s 50th Anniversary year and are setting their sights on the next 50.  The Assembly meets at the Council hall in Wappingers on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 8 pm.   Any Knight of Columbus who has been a 3rd Degree Knight for one year is eligible for membership.  The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic, Family, Fraternal, service organization and the largest Catholic men’s organization in the world with over a million and a half members. The Color Corps of the Wappingers Assembly is an honor guard that attends the 9 AM Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls on the 2nd Sunday of every month at the mass offered for our deceased members.  The main principle of the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus is Patriotism and we gear our fund raising dinner/dances around Patriotic holidays.

PATRIOT CLUB

The Flag Day Celebration of our Patriot Club will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 7 PM at our council. Tickets were made available at the February 25th Patriot Club.

Our NEW FEATURE, the ‘EARLY-BIRD’ drawing worked out so well that we will do it again at our Assembly meeting on May 10, 2006.  That will give you plenty of time to return your tickets or just bring them to the meeting.  Of course, you can still get tickets at the door on June 3rd, but this way we figure to ease the congestion at the door.

The always in demand, Russ Allen will be providing your dance music and we will feature dinners of chicken or roast beef.

SK Ed Duffy the Patriot Club Chairman is the contact person for ticket requests or any further information and he can be reached at 845-224-8341.  As in the past, please return your tickets to the Knights of Columbus, Wappingers Assembly, 2660 East Main St, Wappingers  Falls, NY 12590.

Please mark your calendars, our Veteran’s Day Patriot Club it will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2006.

Any additional information concerning the 4th Degree contact the Faithful Navigator, Thomas Battaglia, 845-463-4577 or tbattag@optonline.net

 Memorial Walkway

The Wappingers Assembly’s Memorial Walkway was completed in June. This project was made possible by a very generous member of our Assembly.

The walkway is constructed of brick and commemorates all of our deceased members. It was installed around the monument for the unborn at St. Mary’s

Cemetery.  We would like to thank , Ed Duffy, Dick Fitzgerald, Mike Kelly, Gene Noone, Russ Roberti, and especially our benefactor ,who wishes to

remain anonymous, for making this project come to fruition. The dedication ceremony was held June 10, 2007 after our Deceased Members Mass.

Many thanks for the Prayers and blessings that were offered by Monsignor Bellew.  All were invited to attend the dedication ceremony. Everyone was

then invited to the Council’s Pancake Breakfast.  It was a very nice event and very well received, especially by the families of our deceased Sir Knights.
